Complexity, The Brain, and a New Surgical Treatment for Parkinson's Disease
Faculty: Dr. Craig van Horne
Dr. van Horne will explore some of the fascinating intricacies of the human brain and how new lines of scientific thought have helped in our understanding of brain function in both normal and disease states. We will focus on how these strategies have led to new treatments by profiling the surgical procedure for the implantation of deep brain stimulating electrodes for Parkinson's disease. The results of this type of surgery will be demonstrated with a patient who has recently undergone the procedure.
