programs : the tripod project
The Tripod Project was a national initiative is twelve public high
schools under the direction of Prof. Ronald Ferguson of the Kennedy
School of Government at Harvard. Its focus was on harvesting and
sharing teachers' best ideas for achieving high levels of social and
intellectual engagement in the classroom.
Its objective was to achieve academic achievement for all students but
Tripod was especially targeted at narrowing the achievement gap that
separates racial and ethnic groups. Prof. Ferguson has praised
Brookline High School as "a vibrant and progressive high school
with...a strong sense of professional community among the staff and a
culture of cooperation."
